Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device, remember your preferences, and provide certain functionality. Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services operating on that site ("third-party cookies").
This Cookie Policy explains how NewsPro ("NewsPro," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies on newspro.io and the related platform at customer.newspro.io. It also explains what cookies sites built on our platform may use.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for four distinct purposes:
- Authentication — To keep you logged in to your account securely.
- Analytics — To understand how visitors use our site and improve it.
- Affiliate Attribution — To correctly credit the affiliate partner who referred you.
- Preferences — To remember your settings between visits.
3. Cookies We Set
The following cookies are set directly by NewsPro:
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality such as login and navigation. They do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID |
Session authentication — identifies your login session so you stay logged in as you navigate the dashboard. | Session (browser close) or 30 days with "Remember Me" | First-party, HttpOnly, Secure |
csrf_token |
CSRF (Cross-Site Request Forgery) protection token — prevents malicious sites from submitting forms on your behalf. | Session | First-party, HttpOnly, Secure |
3.2 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with newspro.io. The data is used in aggregate only — we do not use it to identify individuals. IP addresses are never stored directly; they are processed as a daily-rotating one-way hash.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
__np_sid |
NewsPro's own server-side analytics identifier — used to distinguish unique visitors and sessions without tracking individuals. No personal data is attached to this identifier. | 30 days | First-party, HttpOnly, Secure |
3.3 Affiliate Cookies
If you arrive at newspro.io through an affiliate partner's referral link, we set cookies to correctly attribute your visit and any resulting subscription to that partner.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
aff_id |
Stores the affiliate partner ID to credit the correct referrer if you subscribe within the attribution window. | 30 days | First-party |
aff_landed |
Records the timestamp of the affiliate referral click for accurate attribution period calculation. | 30 days | First-party |
4. Third-Party Cookies
We may enable the following third-party services on newspro.io. When active, these services set their own cookies governed by their own privacy policies.
4.1 Google Analytics (Optional)
When enabled, Google Analytics sets cookies to help us understand traffic patterns and visitor behavior in aggregate. Google may use this data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy. Google Analytics is currently disabled by default on newspro.io and is only active if we have explicitly enabled it.
Google Analytics cookies typically include: _ga, _gid, _ga_* — duration 2 years, 24 hours, and session respectively.
4.2 Facebook Pixel (Optional)
When enabled, the Facebook Pixel allows us to measure the effectiveness of advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Facebook's cookies are governed by Meta's Data Policy. The Facebook Pixel is disabled by default and only active if explicitly enabled by us.
4.3 Tranzila (Payment Processing)
When you initiate a payment on newspro.io, you interact with Tranzila's secure payment interface. Tranzila is a licensed payment service provider and may set technical cookies required for secure payment processing. NewsPro does not control these cookies. Tranzila's data practices are governed by their own privacy policy.
5. Cookies on Sites Built With NewsPro
If you are a visitor to a news site built on the NewsPro platform (not newspro.io itself), the cookie practices of that site are governed by that site's own Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy. The site owner (not NewsPro) is the data controller for their visitors.
Sites built on NewsPro typically set:
- A session cookie for logged-in subscribers (
PHPSESSID) - A site-level analytics cookie (
__np_sid) — server-side only, no personal data attached - Any third-party cookies the site owner has enabled (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Disqus, ad networks, etc.)
As a visitor to a NewsPro-powered site, you should consult that site's own privacy and cookie notices for full details.
6. Your Cookie Choices
6.1 Browser Controls
All modern browsers allow you to view, manage, block, and delete cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or using core platform functionality.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and Site Permissions → Cookies and Site Data
6.2 Opt-Out of Google Analytics
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6.3 Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Our server-side analytics system honors DNT signals by not associating any session identifier with your visits when DNT is active.
7. Legal Basis for Cookie Use (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions where GDPR or equivalent legislation applies:
- Strictly necessary cookies — Legal basis: Legitimate Interests / contractual necessity. No consent required.
- Analytics cookies — Legal basis: Legitimate Interests (server-side analytics with no individual profiling). We consider our interest in understanding how the site is used to be balanced against your privacy interests given the privacy-preserving design (IP hashing, no cross-site tracking).
- Affiliate cookies — Legal basis: Legitimate Interests (accurate attribution of referrals and payment of commissions to partners).
- Third-party optional cookies (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel) — Legal basis: Consent (only enabled after appropriate consent mechanism).
8. Data Transfers
Some cookies and associated data may be processed by third parties (Google, Meta, Tranzila) outside your country of residence, including outside the EEA. These transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions as applicable.
9. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
